Siraj Mia Memorial Foundation Launches Weekly Friday Lunch Program for the Needy
In an inspiring move to serve humanity, Siraj Mia Memorial Foundation (SMMF) has launched its new humanitarian initiative, the “Weekly Friday Lunch Program.” The program officially commenced on October 31, 2025, at the Siraj Mia Memorial Model School premises in South Baridhara Residential Area, Dhaka.
Founded by Md Monir Hossain and led by Md Rafy Hossain, President of the Foundation, this initiative reflects a powerful message of compassion and community solidarity. Every Friday after Jummah prayers, the Foundation distributes freshly cooked meals to around 300 underprivileged individuals, ensuring that no one in the area goes hungry on this blessed day.
The distribution process is conducted in a disciplined, hygienic, and dignified manner, supported by an enthusiastic volunteer team consisting of members from South Baridhara Youth Club, Foundation representatives, and local residents.
“Our goal is to make kindness a weekly habit, not a seasonal gesture,” said Md Rafy Hossain, President of the Foundation. “As more people come forward, we will keep expanding our reach to serve every person in need.”
This initiative has already begun to foster a deeper sense of unity within the South Baridhara community. Residents have praised the program not only for its charitable intent but also for setting an example of empathy-driven leadership in a time when consistent community service is more essential than ever.
As demand increases, the Foundation plans to gradually expand the number of meals distributed, emphasizing sustainability and continuity over temporary relief efforts. The Weekly Friday Lunch Program is a continuation of SMMF’s longstanding commitment to social responsibility, compassion, and inclusive welfare, keeping alive the legacy of its founder, Md Monir Hossain.
